Alumni of the Beta Phi Chapter of Beta Theta Pi

This year the Beta Phi chapter of Beta Theta Pi turns one hunderd. From its modest beginnings as The Gastronomic Criterions in the early 1900s, Beta Phi’s affiliation wit Beta Theta Pi was officially recognized in 1908 after no less than three formal applications for membership. Please join us this September as we celebrate both the Centennial and dedication of the newly constructed new chapter house! Details of the event can be found by clicking here or on the Centennial Celebration link.

Congratulations to all those of you that have contributed to the Beta Phi Centennial Campaign. Through the hard work of the Beta Phi Centennial Campaign Committee we haved raised $2,085,255 in support for the new chapter house. In 2003 the plan was to simply to renovate the existing chapter house in time for the Centennial Celebration in 2008. Four short years later Beta Phi is preparing itself for a brand new, state-of-the-art facility that will be opened for the fall 2008 semester. While $2,085,255 is an extremely impressive number the overall participation of 39 percent is equally impressive. (Typically groups see 20-25 percent participation) As of today, only 16 fraternities have raised in excess of $2 million to support a renovation or rebuild of the chapter house. Beta Phi is the smallest chapter (in terms of total alumni) and in the top 5 in overall participation percentage.

This website is the home of the Crucible Building Association, for alumni of the Beta Phi chapter of Beta Theta Pi at Colorado School of Mines. This corporation is organized not for profit pursuant to the Colorado Non-profit Corporation Act. Its exclusive purpose is to hold title to property, collect income therefrom, and distribute such income, less expenses, a reasonable depreciation allowance in amounts used to restore debt to the organizations which control it. It also is setup to establish and maintain property management policies governing the occupancy of property in charge. Assume responsibility for all financial matters of the Corporation.

There are plenty of opportunities for brothers to get involved and contribute to the success of these events. This can be achieved by attending board meetings (held only twice per semester) or volunteering on one of our committees. Your involvement will be greatly appreciated!
